Birkie Trail Run
The Birkie Trail Run takes place September 26, 2026 at the American Birkebeiner Trailhead in Cable, WI. The festival includes multiple race options on the Birkie Trail system and related routes near Mt. Telemark.

Course and format details The routes use a mix of ski trail, double track, logging roads and singletrack. The marathon, half marathon, and relay include an ascent to the top of Mt. Telemark on singletrack. The Nordic Trek route avoids singletrack and finishes on easier terrain. The 10K blends ski trail, two track and some singletrack. The marathon loop is repeated for full marathon distance.
Registration and rules Registration includes a custom T shirt, race bib and pins, finisher medal, on course aid, post race snacks and Kemps chocolate milk, and a complimentary Earth Rider beer or soda. Relay registration closes September 21, 2026. Participants in the marathon must be 18 or older; half marathon and relay participants must be 13 or older by the event date. Entries may be transferred until September 23, 2026 for a $15 processing fee plus any applicable fee difference; no partial refunds for moving to a shorter event.
Venue and event services All races start and finish at the American Birkebeiner Trailhead. There is ample parking and on site bib pick up and an expo with gear demos on the Friday and Saturday before the races. Awards include overall and age class prizes, and winners in several events will receive Rossignol trail shoes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
