Birkie Trail Run : September 26, 2026, Cable, WI
The Birkie Trail Run is a multi-event trail running festival held at the American Birkebeiner Trailhead in Cable, Wisconsin on September 26, 2026. The program offers multiple distances and race types over terrain that includes ski trail, two-track, logging roads, double track, and singletrack.
- Marathon (two laps of a 13.1 mile loop)
- Marathon Relay (3- and 6-person team divisions)
- Half Marathon
- Nordic Trek (8.5 miles)
- 10K (new for 2026)
- 5K Run/Walk
- 1K Kids Dash (ages 9 and under)
Course notes: the Half Marathon and Marathon routes include an ascent to the top of Mt. Telemark on singletrack. The Nordic Trek course uses ski trail, logging roads, and double track and does not include singletrack or the Mt. Telemark ascent this year. The new 10K mixes ski trail, two-track, and some singletrack; the 5K includes a new singletrack section.
Registration is tiered with scheduled price increases on July 10, 2026 and September 11, 2026. Team relay registration closes Monday, September 21, 2026; other event registration closes on the morning of the event, and shirts are not guaranteed after September 1. Age restrictions apply: Marathon entrants must be 18 or older; Half Marathon and Marathon Relay entrants must be 13 or older by September 26, 2026.
Registration includes a custom T-shirt, race bib and pins, finisher medal, on-course aid station fuel sponsored by UnTapped, post-race snacks and Kemp’s chocolate milk, and a complimentary Earth Rider beer or soda. Awards are given to overall top finishers and age-class places across events; relay teams are awarded by category. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
