The Birkenhead Park 5 Mile Road Race returns for its 54th edition in 2026. Established in 1972, this historic event has been held annually, maintaining a consistent presence in the local running calendar. The race is organized by Wirral AC and takes place within the grounds of Birkenhead Park, specifically starting near the St Mary's Cricket Club and the visitor centre.
The main event follows an accurate, accredited road course. Participants receive chip timing and a race memento upon completion. The event infrastructure includes water stations located on each lap to support runners during the race. Professional photographs are provided for free following the event.

The course offers cash prizes for the top three male and female finishers. Additionally, a prize is available for any runner who sets a new course record. Registration and the finish area are located at the Birkenhead Park Visitor Centre, where race day check-in occurs.
