Event
The 2026 Binational Race is a San Diego to Tijuana half marathon held on October 25, 2026. The event brings together over 4,000 participants and is presented as part of a regional movement promoting cultural, social, academic, sports, political, and family exchanges between San Diego and Tijuana. The start location is Las Americas Premium Outlets in San Ysidro and the finish is at Playas de Tijuana.
Course
The half marathon route begins at the west end of Las Americas and proceeds along Camino de la Plaza avenue to Dairy Mart Road. At 5 km the course passes the natural reserves of Tijuana River Valley Park. At 10 km the route crosses the border through the San Ysidro - El Chaparral international checkpoint, using the far right lane on Freeway 5 to enter Mexico. After the international crossing the course continues on an international route and includes a roughly 5 km downhill section before the finish at Playas de Tijuana. The course offers panoramic views of San Diego near the later stages.
Registration and requirements
A virtual half marathon option for U.S. participants is listed; the virtual option is closed and had a listed fee of $51.49. Participants are required to present travel documents such as a passport, Global Entry, or Sentry Card at U.S. Customs/Border when traveling to or returning from Mexico.
