Event overview
The 2026 BINATIONAL RACE is a San Diego to Tijuana half marathon held on October 25, 2026. The race distance is 13.1 miles. The start area is at Las Americas Premium Outlets, Camino de la Plaza, San Diego (4211 Camino De La Plaza, San Diego, CA 92173). The finish line is at Playas de Tijuana. The event is part of a regional movement promoting cultural, social, academic, sports, political, and family exchanges between San Diego and Tijuana. The event draws over 4,000 participants.
Course and route
The course begins at the west end of Las Americas and follows Camino de la Plaza until Dairy Mart Rd. At kilometer 5 runners pass the natural reserves of Tijuana River Valley Park. At kilometer 10 the route crosses the border at the San Ysidro - El Chaparral international checkpoint, running through the Border (Far Right Lane) on Freeway 5 to enter Mexico. After the crossing the international route continues with panoramic views of San Diego and a roughly 5 km descent that leads to the finish at Playas de Tijuana.
Registration and entry requirements
The event offered a virtual half marathon for U.S. participants with a listed fee of $51.49; virtual results had to be submitted by November 15. In-person half marathon registration used tiered pricing, with listed fees starting at $84.48 and rising to $166.98 depending on registration dates. Participants must present a Passport, Global Entry, or Sentry Card at U.S. Customs/Border when going to or returning to the United States.
