Bike Low Carbon Race Ticknock
The event is a trail bike and low carbon race held in Ticknock, County Dublin, with a main route that uses singletrack, forestry paths and open tractor tracks around the masts and Fairy Castle area. The route is fully marked and GPS devices are not allowed.
The main route gains about 330 m of climb and is classified as difficulty 6 (2,2,2), indicating moderate terrain, typical ascent between 200 m and 500 m, and a distance range of 6 km to 10 km. The course starts behind the Blue Light pub, passes a small quarry, follows singletrack to the masts area, climbs to Fairy Castle via a tractor path, loops through forest and returns by the same general section to the quarry. The junior course is approximately 4 km and uses the first 2 km of the out and back section, turning at the masts area.
Mandatory kit is Level A basic, specifically a showerproof, windproof jacket. Participants must be able to carry required kit; random checks may be carried out and lack of required items can lead to denied entry or disqualification. There is no parking at the immediate race location; public transport, cycling or walking to the event is encouraged. Car parking is available at Fernhill and Ticknock public carparks with a walk or run to registration.
