Bike and Bus Low Carbon Race Ticknock
The Bike and Bus Low Carbon Race in Ticknock is a fully waymarked mountain event in County Dublin held on Saturday 15 August 2026. The main course is approximately 7.70 km with about 330 m of climb. A junior course of approximately 4.00 km uses the first 2 km of the out and back section, turning at the masts area.
The route starts from just behind the Blue Light pub and passes a small quarry. It includes singletrack sections, a tractor path ascent to Fairy Castle, off route sections toward the WW, forest trails, and returning sections that loop back toward the masts and descend to the quarry. The course is described as moderate terrain consistent with an event difficulty in the 6 category and distance and ascent in the 6 to 10 km and 200 to 500 m ranges.
The route is fully marked with tape and arrows and GPS devices are not allowed. Mandatory kit is Level A basic equipment including a showerproof windproof jacket. The exact kit to be carried will be finalised on race day and random checks may be carried out; missing required items may result in denial of entry or disqualification.
There is no on site car parking for this event and organisers recommend using public transport, cycling or running to the venue. Public car parks at Fernhill and Ticknock are available with a walk or run to the registration area at the Blue Light pub. Prizes are to be confirmed and may include vouchers and a tray of shortbread. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
