Day of the Dead Half Marathon - Tulsa
The Day of the Dead Half Marathon - Tulsa takes place at Riverside 96th Street Park. This event offers a variety of distances held primarily on paved trails through regional parks and green belts. While the organizers aim for paved surfaces, the course may include mixed surfaces such as crushed granite or dirt paths.
Available event distances include:
- Half Marathon: 13.1 miles (double out and back)
- Quarter Marathon: 6.55 miles
- 5K Run: 3.1 miles
- 1 Mile Run: Open to all ages and experience levels
- Kids Dash: A 20-yard dash for children aged 10 and under
- Virtual Run: For remote participants
The 5K, Quarter Marathon, and Half Marathon are chip-timed events. Standard age group awards are provided for these distances, with overall male and female winners receiving trophies. Aid stations are positioned along the course to provide hydration and assistance to participants.
A costume contest is held before the race begins, themed around the tradition of Día de los Muertos. Participants are encouraged to wear creative and vibrant attire. After finishing, runners can access the rally tent for snacks, refreshments, and live awards announcements.
Participants can register for a "Volunteer then Run" option, which involves helping with packet pickup before participating in their chosen race distance. Regular packet pickup is available at the registration tent during the morning of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
