Day of the Dead Half Marathon - Oklahoma City
The Day of the Dead Half Marathon takes place at Draper Park in Oklahoma City and follows park trails through lakes, wooded areas, and mixed surfaces. The course description notes paved trails, crushed granite, and occasional dirt paths. Aid stations are placed on the route to provide water and basic assistance.
A pre-race costume contest is held at the start area, with entries judged on creativity, authenticity, and overall impact; a Best Costume Award and prize package are presented before the race. A post-race rally tent hosts live music, race awards announcements, and Mexican food items and refreshments for finishers.
The event offers multiple race options and timing formats:
- Kids Dash - about 20 yards; not timed; includes tee shirt, medal, recognition pin
- 1 Mile - not chip timed; includes tee shirt and race medal
- 5K - 3.11 miles; chip timed; overall trophies and age-group awards
- Quarter Marathon - 6.55 miles; chip timed; overall trophies and age-group awards
- Half Marathon - 13.1 miles; chip timed; overall trophies and age-group awards
- Virtual Run - 13.1 miles; virtual participation option
- Volunteer then Run - volunteer before racing; includes chip-timed bib, tee, medal
Packet pickup is offered 1.5 hours before the event start. Shirt sizes are guaranteed only up to 10 days before the event. Volunteer roles include course monitor and aid station positions with designated volunteer benefits.
