Day of the Dead Half Marathon: Parks Edition
The Day of the Dead Half Marathon: Parks Edition is a multi-distance running event held at Draper Park in Oklahoma City. The course runs through parkland and green belts and includes paved trails, crushed granite, and some dirt paths. Aid stations are placed on course to provide water and on-course assistance.
The event format includes in-person races and a virtual half marathon. Timing varies by distance: the 5K, Quarter Marathon, Half Marathon, and Volunteer then Run options are chip timed; the 1 Mile and Kids Dash are not chip timed. Packet pickup is offered beginning 1.5 hours before race start. Shirt orders are guaranteed only for registrations completed at least ten days before the event.
A pre-race costume contest is held at the starting area with judging for creativity and authenticity and a prize for the best costume. A post-race rally tent hosts live music, awards presentations, and food and drink service. Participants receive T-shirts and finisher medals; overall winners receive trophies and age-group top finishers receive recognition pins. Volunteer roles include course monitor and aid station support; volunteers earn a race shirt, souvenir medal subject to availability, VIP access, and a choice of a free future race entry or a $20 prepaid digital gift card.
