Big Wolf’s Backyard Ultra – Cacouna
Big Wolf’s Backyard Ultra in Cacouna is a last one standing backyard ultra run held on June 27th 2026. The format uses a repeated loop of 6.706 km with 52 m of positive elevation that runners complete until only one remains.
The loop follows a gravel path through fields, a marsh, a wooded section and along a river. The course is rolling and is used both by day and by night. Participants start from the heliport runway on the event site located between the municipalities of Cacouna and L'Isle-Verte, beside the St. Lawrence River.
Runners are responsible for their own food and nonwater hydration; only water is provided on site. Athletes may set up in a large communal tent with a chair and a small cooler. Each runner may be accompanied by a single support person who must wear an identification cocarde to access the site.
Required equipment listed for participants includes a chair, a 160 cm by 200 cm survival blanket, at least 8 liters of hydration at the start, a headlamp with spare battery (minimum 150 lumens), one standard box and one small cooler per runner, and a waterproof raincoat.
