Event overview
The Big Sur River Run takes place on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, Highway One, Big Sur, CA. It is a benefit race that donates proceeds to the Big Sur Health Center and Big Sur Fire. The event is organized by a nonprofit and has supported local organizations since 1981.
The race includes the following events:

- 5K - Family Fun Run or Walk
- 10K - Children (ages 1-12)

Course, logistics and rules
Both courses are flat, black-top road loops alongside the Big Sur River, passing through Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park redwood and oak grove campgrounds. There is one water station on the course. Prizes are awarded to 10K winners and top finishers.
On race day there is bib and shirt pickup at the start line and day-of registration is available. Parking in Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park requires a $10 kiosk fee. Sweat bags will be available for extra clothing but participants are asked to limit valuables. Light snacks and coffee will be available for purchase; vendors accept cash only. No bicycles, dogs, strollers, skates, wagons, or other wheeled conveyances are permitted, except wheelchairs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
