Big Dog's Backyard Ultra takes place on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the Big Farm - Short Creek in Bell Buckle, Tennessee. The event is part of the World Backyard Ultra Team Championships and follows the Last Man Standing backyard ultra format. The championship involves multiple sites around the world on the same day.
Qualification and entry
Participants for this championship are selected through qualification paths over the preceding two years. Qualified athletes include those who won silver ticket events and those placed among the top At-Large performers in their nation. The United States team will be composed of the top 15 qualified American athletes who are citizens or permanent residents. The qualifying period ends on August 15, 2026; results are to be submitted within a week after that date, at which point the At-Large list is finalized. Athletes who earned a silver ticket are accepted automatically. Organizers will confirm intentions of qualified athletes who do not apply so places can be offered to alternates. As qualifying nears its end, places may be offered to At-Large athletes with sufficiently large tallies; at one point applications will be accepted from athletes who have equaled or exceeded 100 hours.
