Big A 50K Trail Race
The Big A 50K is a trail race held on Mount Agamenticus. The full course is composed of three loops of 10.35 miles that begin at the summit, climb back up Big A, and traverse Second Hill and Third Hill on each loop. Runners can cross the finish line at approximate intermediate distances of 10 miles and 13 miles, or at any multiple of those points up to the full 31 miles / 50K.
Terrain is mostly single track with sections of dirt road and ATV-type trails. The full 50K includes 5,787 feet of elevation gain. Footing is technical with rocks, roots, and frequent elevation changes; trail running shoes are recommended. All participants are asked to train for the course and plan to finish within 10 hours.
The 2026 edition is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, and registration opens February 1. Course maps, GPX files, turn sheets, past results, and race photos have been provided for previous years. The event is organized through Town of York Parks and Recreation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
