bg26.2 & half marathon and bg6000
The bg26.2 & half marathon and bg6000 is a multi distance running event based at Bowling Green Ballpark in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The course is a Boston Marathon qualifying USATF certified route that uses a 13.1 mile loop through historic downtown Bowling Green and the Western Kentucky University campus. Marathon participants run the loop twice. The event is an open course with coned lanes on University Blvd, Fairview Avenue, Kentucky Street, and Adams Street; side streets remain accessible to traffic.
The event supports the National MS Society in memory of Susan B. Riherd. All finishers receive a finisher medal plus post race refreshments. Post race stretches and massages are available. Packet pick up, the race expo, and a pasta dinner are held on the Saturday before the race at Bowling Green Ballpark; the pasta dinner is free to paid participants and guests may purchase tickets.
Course rules and logistics include required visible bib placement on the front, a one ear headphone recommendation, no strollers or dogs on course, and no unauthorized cyclists. Marathon runners must pass five course checkpoints and half marathon runners must pass two. There is a six hour time limit and marathon participants must meet a 14 minute per mile pace or reach the halfway point within three hours.
