bg26.2 & half marathon and bg6000
The bg26.2 & half marathon and bg6000 is a multi-event road race held at Bowling Green Ballpark in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The course is USATF certified and designated as Boston Marathon qualifying. The main loop is 13.1 miles and passes through historic downtown Bowling Green and the Western Kentucky University campus. Marathon participants run the loop twice.
The event format includes on-site packet pick-up, an expo, and a pasta dinner on the day before the road races. Race-day packet pick-up is available at the ballpark concession window. All finishers receive a finisher medal and post-race refreshments; post-race stretching and massage services are available. Proceeds benefit the National MS Society.
Course operations and rules: the event is an open course with some coned lanes; side streets remain accessible to traffic. There are five checkpoints for marathoners and two for half marathoners. The race enforces a six hour time limit and requires marathon participants to maintain a 14:00 minute per mile pace or reach the halfway mark by the designated cutoff. Strollers and dogs are not permitted. Headphone policy recommends leaving one ear free. Unauthorized cyclists are not allowed; official race cyclists wear orange vests. Bibs must be visible on the front for timing and photo identification.
Awards use gun times for overall places and chip times for other awards. Minimum ages: 16 for the marathon and 12 for the half marathon. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
