Beulah Challenge
The Beulah Challenge is a set of road and trail races held at Beulah School of Natural Sciences, 8734 Schoolhouse Ln, Beulah, Colorado. The event features multiple race distances that start and finish at the school and use roads, local gravel sections, and nearby trail systems in the Beulah Valley and Pueblo Mountain Park.
- Half marathon 13.1 miles
- 10K 6.2 miles
- 5K 3.1 miles
- Youth 5K and 10K entries available
Course specifics vary by distance. The half marathon combines pavement, dirt roads, and single-track mountain trails and passes through Pueblo Mountain Park; its starting elevation is 6320 feet, peak elevation reaches about 7300 feet, and the lowest point is 6220 feet. The 10K travels to the northern section of the Beulah Valley, is approximately 85% pavement and 15% dirt road, starts at 6320 feet with a peak near 6500 feet, and has a low point near 6220 feet. The 5K runs through the heart of the Beulah Valley, is mostly on pavement with a short dirt section, starts at 6320 feet, peaks near 6470 feet, and has an overall elevation gain of about 240 feet.
The event is part of an Over It race series that includes the Beulah half marathon, a Royal Gorge area half marathon in early October, and the Rock Canyon half marathon in December. Series participants receive a medal and standard race swag at each event, and top combined finishers are recognized. The half marathon has an official time limit of three and a half hours, corresponding to a 16 minute per mile pace; course support and services end according to that limit, and participants who continue do so at their own risk and must follow traffic laws when on roadways.
