Bergplaas Challenge 2026
The Bergplaas Challenge is a combined mountain bike and trail running event held on 28 November 2026 at Libertas Guest Farm in Hoekwil / Wilderness, Western Cape. This is the fifth edition of the event. The date was moved to November 28, 2026 due to Foot and Mouth restrictions that affected movement on farming areas.
Course options include multiple mountain bike distances and two trail run distances:
- MTB - 15.6 km, about 181 m elevation
- MTB - 28.1 km, about 477 m elevation
- MTB - 39.2 km, about 923 m elevation
- MTB - 70.3 km, about 1601 m elevation
- Trail run - 6.5 km, about 131 m elevation
- Trail run - 10.1 km, about 204 m elevation
The event is sanctioned by Cycling South Africa (CSA); riders must hold a current CSA membership or obtain a temp day license. Entry fees reported for this edition range from R150 for the 7 km trail to R450 for the 70 km MTB. A bike service station and bike wash will be available from Cycle Worx Sedgefield, with a R30 charge per bike wash and proceeds directed to a local charity.
