About the race
The 10th Annual Benicia Hand Up Turkey Trot takes place on Thanksgiving Day, 11.26.26, at Benicia Community Park, 540 Rose Dr, Benicia, CA 94510. The event is an untimed community run and walk held rain or shine and benefits the Tim & Jeannie Hamann Foundation, which provides financial assistance to local cancer patients.
Registration is listed at $33.00 or less, including processing fees; children 10 and under are free. The event offers two route choices to accommodate different preferences:
- ~2.0 miles hill out to Lake Herman
- ~1.5 miles flatter loop around Benicia Community Park (two laps)
The day includes costume contests with several categories and prizes: Little Turkey (up to 11 years) receives a $25 gift card, Big Turkey (over 12 years) receives a $50 gift card, Flock of Turkeys (groups of two or more) receives a $100 Lucca Bar & Grill gift card, and a Dog Costume Contest winner receives a basket of dog goodies.
Since 2014 the Tim & Jeannie Hamann Foundation has granted over $2,000,000 to patients for rent and mortgage payments, gas and groceries, medical expenses, utility payments, and other needs.
