Event Overview
The BENefit Mile is an annual running and walking event held in Plainfield, Indiana. The ninth edition of this event features a net downhill course designed for speed. The race starts on Buchanan Street and concludes in downtown Plainfield near the Plainfield Friends Meeting off of East Street.
Participants are organized into corrals based on their estimated finish times to ensure a smooth flow during the event. The course utilizes Mylaps Bibtag timing to provide overall and age group placement data for all participants. Post-race festivities are held following the conclusion of the athletic events.
The event offers the following participation options:
- Mile Run
- Mile Walk
- Virtual Mile
Participants who register by the specified deadline receive a T-shirt. Custom keychain awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top finishers in various age groups.
The event serves as a fundraiser for the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St. Vincent. It is held in memory of Ben Harmon, a local runner and resident. Since 2018, the event has raised significant funds to support patients and families fighting cancer.
