Benbecula Half Marathon
The Benbecula Half Marathon is a road race on the island of Benbecula in the Outer Hebrides. The course uses roads that are not closed to traffic and is held under a Scottish Athletics licence in accordance with UK Athletics rules.
The route combines flat and gently undulating sections and runs along coastal roads, through local villages and past views of rugged landscape and wildlife. Registration takes place at Liniclate Sports Centre. The event appears as the second race on the HEB 3/5 Challenge calendar.
Entry details include an opening date of 24 October at 19:00, an early bird fee of £29 until 31 December and a subsequent fee of £33. Entry includes a finisher's T shirt. Refunds at half price are available until 31 January 2026 and name changes may be made until 31 March 2026; no refunds or name changes are permitted after those dates.
Prize categories cover overall female and male top three, local female and male, veteran categories V40 V50 V60 V70 for both sexes, and team prizes for three person teams with separate all male and all female awards. A £50 cash prize is offered for breaking the current course record for each sex. One prize is allowed per runner and local and veteran prizes will cascade to the next eligible finisher.
Entrants must be at least 17 years old on race day. Headphones that sit in the ears are not permitted on roads that are not wholly closed to traffic; bone conduction devices that do not sit in the ear are acceptable. UK Anti Doping rules apply for 12 months from the date of the competition. The route may change. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
