Event
The 3 Islands Marathon is a certified road marathon on the West coast of Scotland, held in the Outer Hebrides on 19 July 2026. The course begins at Lochboisdale Marina on the Island of Gasay and finishes at the Dark Island Hotel on the Isle of Benbecula. The event covers the marathon distance across three islands in four stages.
Race format and route
The event offers Solo entries, Pairs, and teams of three or four. The course is divided into four legs, each between 5.8 and 7 miles, with three changeover checkpoints. There is a Community Teams category made up by random draw from individual entries; that draw takes place one week before race day. A GPX route file is available for download. The race is measured and certified by Scottish Athletics.
Entries, fees and prizes
Entries open 30 September 2025 and close 1 July 2026. Prices listed until the closing date include Solo discounted/standard £28 / £30, Pairs discounted/standard £58 / £60, Teams of 3 discounted/standard £88 / £90, and Teams of 4 discounted/standard £118 / £120. A service fee of 4% (minimum 50p) applies to each sign-up. The race has a cut-off time of 6 hours; entrants with longer predicted finish times must follow an earlier start arrangement. Solo prizes are 1st–3rd male and female plus veteran categories. Pairs and teams have Male, Female and Mixed categories with one place awarded; Community Teams have 1st–3rd placed team prizes.
