3 Islands Marathon Hebrides : event description
The 3 Islands Marathon Hebrides is a road marathon held in the Outer Hebrides, West coast of Scotland, on 19 July 2026. The course is officially measured and certified by Scottish Athletics. The route starts at Lochboisdale Marina on the island of Gasay, follows the main road through South Uist and continues onto Benbecula, finishing at the Dark Island Hotel. On Benbecula the route passes through the townships of Hacklet and Torlum. The course is divided into four legs with three changeover checkpoints.
The event can be entered in several formats: Solo, Pairs, Created Teams of three or four, or as Community Teams. Community Teams are assembled by random draw from individual entrants who do not run the full distance; the draw is held one week before race day and Community Teams are eligible for a separate prize category. Solo entries compete for male and female prizes for first to third and in veteran categories; there is no traditional club team prize based on the first three from one club.
The race has a six hour cutoff; entrants with a predicted finish time of five hours or more may be required to use an early start. Entries open from 30 September 2025. Total places are listed as 110. There are four legs, each between 5.8 miles and 7 miles. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
