Event details

The 3 Islands Marathon is an officially measured and certified road marathon by Scottish Athletics. It takes place in the Outer Hebrides on the west coast of Scotland on 19 July 2026. The course starts at Lochboisdale Marina on the island of Gasay and finishes at the Dark Island Hotel on the Isle of Benbecula. The event has a total field size of 100 places and the event status is listed as open. The race has a cut-off time of 6 hours.

Entry format, route and prizes

The marathon is run over four legs, each between 5.8 miles and 7 miles, with three changeover checkpoints. It can be entered as a Solo, as Pairs, or as teams of three or four. There is also a Community Teams category: individual entrants who do not run the full distance are entered into a random draw one week before race day to form mixed teams that cover the four legs. The Community Teams category has no gender divisions and awards 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed team prizes. Solo entries have 1st, 2nd and 3rd Male and Female prizes and various veteran categories. There is no prize for a club team based on the first three from the same club. Solo entrants who cannot complete all four legs may be converted into the Community draw to run one or two legs.

Entry fees until 01 July 2026 are £28 (discounted for Scottish Athletics members) or £30 standard. A service fee of 4% (minimum 50p) applies to each sign-up. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
