Event details

The 3 Islands Marathon Hebrides takes place on 19 July 2026 in the Outer Hebrides, United Kingdom. It is an officially measured and Scottish Athletics certified road marathon. The route starts at Lochboisdale Marina on the island of Gasay (now linked to South Uist) and finishes at the Dark Island Hotel on the Isle of Benbecula. The event has a published total capacity of 110 places and a race cut-off time of 6 hours.

Format and course

The marathon covers the standard marathon distance in four stages across three islands. There are 3 changeover checkpoints and the four legs range between 5.8 miles and 7 miles in length. The route follows the main spinal road through South Uist and then continues onto Benbecula, passing through the townships of Hacklet and Torlum before the finish.

Entries may be entered as a Solo runner, a Pair, or teams of three or four. There is also a Community Teams category: individual entrants who do not run the full distance are drawn at random into teams to cover the four legs. Prize categories include Solo 1st to 3rd male and female, various veteran categories, and 1st to 3rd placed Community Teams; there is no traditional club team prize.
