Event overview
The 3 Islands Marathon Hebrides is a measured and certified road marathon in the Outer Hebrides, scheduled for 19 July 2026. The course starts at Lochboisdale Marina on the island of Gasay and finishes at the Dark Island Hotel, Isle of Benbecula. The organiser lists a total of 110 places and the event status is open. Format, distances, categories and entry
The event is staged over four legs, each between 5.8 miles and 7 miles, with three changeover checkpoints. It can be entered as a Solo runner, a Pair, or teams of three or four. There is also a Community Teams category: individual entrants who do not run the full distance are entered into a random draw one week before race day to form mixed teams that cover the four legs. The Community Teams category has 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed prizes and no gender categories. Solo prizes are awarded 1st to 3rd for Male and Female, with additional veteran categories. There is no traditional club team prize.
The race has a cut-off time of six hours; entrants with a predicted finish time of five hours or more must take an earlier start. Entry fees listed until 1 July 2026 are £28 (discounted for Scottish Athletics members) and £30 standard. A service fee of 4% (minimum £0.50) applies to each sign-up.
