Event Overview
The Bemidji Blue Ox Marathon is an annual multi-distance running event established in 2013. The races take place in Northern Minnesota, centered around Lake Bemidji. The event schedule is divided over two days, with shorter distances held on Friday and primary endurance races held on Saturday. Participants run through locations including Lake Bemidji State Park and the Bemidji State University campus.

Registration must be completed in advance, as there is no same-day registration available. The deadline for pre-registration is October 08, 2026. All participants receive a race shirt and a finisher medal. Following the completion of their race, runners can access the Harmony Co-op finisher area and receive a beverage from Bemidji Brewing in the downtown area. Age group awards are provided based on race results.
The courses are designed to showcase the natural scenery of the lake and the local educational facilities. Merchandise for the event is available through RedBubble and TeePublic. The 26K distance specifically follows a loop around the lake, while other distances utilize various sections of the surrounding park and university grounds.
