Behind the Rocks Ultra
Behind the Rocks Ultra takes place in Moab, Utah on April 3, 2027. It serves as the final event in the Triple Crown of Moab and starts and finishes at the Behind the Rocks Trail along the border of the Behind the Rocks Wilderness Study Area.
The event offers these distances:
- 10 Mile
- 30K
- 50K
- 50 Mile
The course travels remote desert trails with views of tall Navajo Sandstone domes, fins, arches, and other rock formations. Terrain includes smooth double track, sandy washes, technical doubletrack, and singletrack. The 50 mile course contains technical down climbs and rim running and finishes near the La Sal Mountain Range.
Elevation and course demands vary by distance. The 10 Mile course has about 886 feet of elevation gain. The 30K and 50K have greater gains, and the 50 mile course shows the largest totals with over 5,000 feet of elevation gain. Runners should review the race guide for exact elevation, water carry, and cutoff information.
Aid stations are cup less; runners must bring a reusable cup. Water dispensers are available at the start/finish and at every aid station for bladders and bottles. Packet pickup is scheduled for April 2, 2027 at the start/finish area and requires photo ID. Free camping is offered at the Mad Moose Base Camp. Participants receive a race shirt, a BOCO Gear technical trucker hat, and a finisher medal. Race photos are provided by an event photographer.
