Bedford Veterans Center 5K Run/Walk & 1 Mile Walk
The Bedford Veterans Center 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Walk takes place at the Bedford Community Stadium in Temperance, Michigan. This community event is organized to generate awareness for volunteer services and support local veterans and their families. Participants can choose between two main activities:
- 5k: A 3.1-mile timed race for runners and walkers.
- 1 Mile Fun Walk: A non-timed walk held exclusively on the stadium track.
The 5k route incorporates the Bedford High School track for a crowd-friendly finish. The course also includes Indian Creek Park and sections of gravel path, with no street crossings required. During the race, participants can look for flags placed along the course; bringing a flag to the finish line offers a chance to win prizes regardless of finishing speed.
The event provides free registration for veterans and active-duty service members. For the 1-mile walk on the track, participants may complete as many laps as they choose. Facilities at the Bedford Community Stadium, including bathrooms, are available for all participants throughout the event.
Proceeds and donations support the Bedford Veterans Center, which provides veteran service officer appointments, a food pantry, and medical transportation services. Participants have the option to waive their event shirt to increase the donation amount directed toward these veteran services. Early packet pick-up is available the day prior at the Bedford Veterans Center on Lewis Avenue, or at the stadium on the day of the event.
