Beaverhead Endurance Runs
The Beaverhead Endurance Runs take place near the towns of Salmon and Leadore, Idaho, and Dillon, Montana. These trail races traverse rugged mountain terrain characterized by high altitudes, with an average elevation of approximately 8,500 feet. The courses utilize a mix of single-track trails, ATV double-track, and sections of boulder fields or scree.
Participants can choose between two primary distances:
- 100 km: This course covers 62.1 miles with a total ascent of 12,700 feet and a descent of 15,100 feet. The elevation ranges from a minimum of 5,500 feet to a maximum of 10,000 feet.
- 55 km: This route spans 34 miles and features 5,900 feet of ascent and 8,900 feet of descent. The terrain consists of 65% single track, 23% ATV track, and 12% boulder or scree sections.
The event is part of the Idaho Trail Ultra Series. Specific rewards are available for those who complete the Idaho 208 challenge, which involves finishing both the RONR 108K in June and the Beaverhead 100K. The 55 km distance is designed with liberal cutoffs to accommodate a wider range of participants, though the high-altitude environment requires preparation. Both races are recognized by UTMB and the 100 km event serves as a Western States 100 qualifier. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
