24th Annual Beat the Heat 5K
The Franklin Regional Soccer Boosters present the 24th Annual Beat the Heat 5K in Murrysville on August 22, 2026 at 4056 Wiestertown Road. The event offers a community 5K run and a 5K walk and raises funds for Franklin Regional High School and Middle School boys and girls soccer programs, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the Rotary Miracle Sports Complex and the Miracle League of Western Pennsylvania.
Participants receive a bib with an attached timing chip. Bibs and chips do not need to be returned. Packet pickup takes place the day before the race at the back entrance of Franklin Regional High School. Results are handled by a timing company and will be posted online.
Parking is available in Murrysville Community Park; parking attendants will direct vehicles. Wiestertown Road will close prior to the race start, so early arrival is advised. Race day registrations are accepted with a stated race day fee; online registration fees and deadlines apply and shirts are not guaranteed after August 5.
Awards are presented to the top male and top female overall, top master male and top master female, plus age group awards. Age groups for runners include U10, 11 to 13, 14 to 16, 17 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 and over. Walkers receive top male and female awards.
