Beat the Bridge 8K
The Beat the Bridge event is a fundraiser for Breakthrough T1D, an organization funding research for type 1 diabetes. It takes place at Husky Stadium in Seattle.
The event features several activities, including an 8K run and wheelchair race, a 3-mile walk, and a 1-mile fun run. The name "Beat the Bridge" comes from the course, which goes over Seattle’s University Bridge. During the race, the bridge is raised. Participants try to cross it before it goes up. Those who do not make it in time wait for the bridge to lower again, with music and entertainment provided during the wait. After a few minutes, the bridge is lowered and everyone can finish.
The event has been held for over 42 years, bringing the Seattle community together to raise funds for diabetes research, prevention, and treatment. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
