Beast of the East Trail Half Marathon & 10k
Beast of the East is a trail running event in Jersey with two race distances. The half marathon starts at St Catherine's Woods, the 10k starts at Bouley Bay, and both races finish at Devil's Hole.
The routes run mainly on coastal cliff paths and local trails. Terrain is approximately 95% off road and contains technical sections, exposed coastal stretches, steep climbs and fast descents. The half marathon accumulates roughly 2,700 ft of elevation while the 10k has about 1,600 ft.
Distances
- Half Marathon : approx 2,700 ft elevation; limit 100 runners.
- 10k : approx 1,600 ft elevation; limit 50 runners.
Entry fees are listed as £43 for the half and £33 for the 10k. Entries include a race number, finisher's T shirt, medal, water stops, race organisation, chip timing and drinks and snacks at the finish.
Mandatory kit includes trail shoes, a warm top layer, a foil blanket, a rain jacket if required, at least 1 litre of water capacity, a reusable cup, sufficient food between checkpoints, a charged phone with the race emergency number and the What3words app. Random kit checks may occur and missing kit can incur penalties or disqualification.
The course is marked with arrows and barrier tape and having a GPX backup is advised. Supportive cut offs apply.
