Beast of The East Trail Half Marathon & 10k
Beast of the East is a trail-running event on Jersey's North Coast that offers two off-road distances and a shared finish at Devil's Hole. The Half Marathon starts in St Catherine's Woods and passes through Rozel before joining the North Coast cliff paths. The 10k starts at Bouley Bay and follows classic northern sections including Wolf's Lair, Les Platons and Bonne Nuit Bay.
- Half Marathon - 13.1 miles, ~2,700 ft elevation
- 10k - 10 km, ~1,600 ft elevation
Both courses are roughly 95% off-road with technical terrain, exposed coastal sections, sharp climbs and steep descents. Checkpoints are cup-free; water, coke and sweets are supplied, and runners should bring a reusable cup or bottle. The 10k includes finish-line drinks and snacks.
Entries are limited to keep the event manageable on narrow trails: the Half Marathon has a cap of 100 runners and the 10k a cap of 50 runners. Entry fees listed are £43 for the Half Marathon and £33 for the 10k.
A set of mandatory kit must be carried during the race, including trail shoes, a warm top, foil blanket, appropriate rain jacket, reusable cup, sufficient food, a charged phone with the race emergency number, and the What3Words app. Runners should carry at least 1 litre of water, complete ICE details on their bib and mark a red cross on the bib if they have a medical condition. Random kit checks may occur and missing mandatory kit can lead to penalties or disqualification. Supportive cut-offs apply for safety. Travel to different start locations and a single finish at Devil's Hole mean planning lifts or taxis is recommended. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
