About the race

The Bear 100 is a point to point trail endurance run of 100 miles that starts at the mouth of Logan Dry Canyon on the east bench of Logan, Utah and finishes near Bear Lake, Utah. The course includes 20,321 feet of climb, a maximum elevation of 8,865 feet, a minimum elevation of 4,853 feet and an average elevation around 7,251 feet. The route passes through pines, golden aspens and red maples and features many long climbs and varied descents, some smooth and some rocky.

The event is held in late September to coincide with fall colors and cooler daytime weather. Runners should plan for large temperature swings and often below-freezing conditions at night in mountain valleys. Logan is a medium-sized university city with hotels within ten minutes of the start and running/outdoor shops; the city is under two hours from Salt Lake City International Airport.

Entry is by lottery with the 2027 lottery opening November 15. For 2027 registration, runners must have completed an official 50 mile in under 16 hours or an official 100K, 100 or 200 mile event under the cutoff within the qualifying window of December 1, 2022 to December 1, 2026. Volunteer work of eight hours is required prior to the race with a submission deadline of September 15. Shuttle service from finish to start is available for $25 plus tax.

All entrants receive a technical shirt. Finishers receive time-based belt buckles and a small wooden award. Top three male and female finishers receive cash prizes and engraved awards; winners receive a Bear Tag granting guaranteed entry the following year. A $1,000 prize is available for a new course record. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
