The Bear - 2026
The Bear is a 100 mile ultramarathon held on September 25, 2026, running from Logan, Utah to Bear Lake on the Utah-Idaho border. The point to point course travels through the Wasatch-Cache National Forest and the Bear River Range, and passes through stands of pines, golden aspen and red maples. The 2026 running marks the event's 28th anniversary.
The event is an official qualifier for Hardrock and Western States 100 and is indexed for UTMB. The course carries a 36-hour cutoff. Entry for the 2026 event was determined by a lottery; lottery registration was open from November 15 to December 15, 2025, and the lottery was held on December 27, 2025. Registration closed on December 15, 2025. The published race fee for 2026 was $350 plus tax and platform fees. Race management may cancel the event or deny entry at its discretion and may withhold some or all entry fees if that occurs.
To be eligible for the 2026 lottery, entrants must have completed an official race of at least 50 miles in under 16 hours, or any 100K, 100 or 200 mile event within the qualifying window of December 1, 2021 to December 1, 2025; organizers verify qualifiers using official race results. Participants are also required to perform eight hours of service between September 25, 2025 and September 15, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
