The Bear
The Bear 100 is an autumn point to point 100 Mile race that runs from Logan, Utah to Bear Lake on the Utah–Idaho border. The course passes through the pines, golden aspen, and red maples of the Wasatch-Cache National Forest and the Bear River Range.
The 2026 race marks the event's 28th anniversary. The Bear 100 is a Hardrock and Western States 100 qualifier and is listed as a UTMB index race. The event used a lottery process for entries; lottery registration was open from November 15 to December 15, and the lottery was held on December 27. Entrant and waitlist lists show the lottery results. Registration for the 2026 event closed on December 15, 2025.
To be eligible for the lottery runners must have completed an official race of 50 miles or longer. The specific requirement was a 50 miler in under 16 hours or any 100K, 100, or 200 miler within that race's cutoff. Qualifying performances had to fall within the window December 1, 2021 to December 1, 2025; qualifiers were verified via official race results.
Runners were required to perform eight hours of service, such as trail work or volunteering at an ultra, within the window beginning September 25, 2025 and ending September 15, 2026. The published race fee was $350 plus tax and the Ultrasignup fee. Race management reserves discretion over cancellations, refunds, and final entry decisions.
