Be Ovary Aware 5K Run + 3K Walk
Be Ovary Aware is an annual charity event that raises awareness for ovarian and other gynecologic cancers and supports Sue's Gift Gynecologic Cancer Support. The event highlights support for people affected by all seven gynecologic cancers: ovarian, fallopian tube, uterine endometrial, cervical, vaginal, vulvar, and peritoneal.
The event offers two course options:
- 5K run
- 3K walk
The course is described as scenic and flat, following Fountain Creek and the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail, with the start and finish in America the Beautiful Park in downtown Colorado Springs. Activities on the event program include survivor recognition, community tributes, team fundraising awards, music, and refreshments.
Entry fees are published for adults and youth, with different rates for pre registration and on race day. Survivors have a promo code for free entry, and youth may participate for free but will not receive paid participant benefits. Event t shirts are not included with registration; shirts can be purchased during registration or earned as a fundraising reward.
Fundraising proceeds support Sue's Gift programs, including financial assistance for people undergoing treatment and a peer support program that trains survivors to mentor newly diagnosed patients. Fundraising incentives include lawn signs and banners at specified contribution levels. Volunteer roles are available for registration, course support, equipment setup, vendor support, survivor area assistance, finish line cheering, and teardown.
