Be a Hero 5K - Cunningham Children's Home
The 6th annual Be a Hero 5K is set for Saturday, October 10, 2026 on Cunningham's campus at 1301 N. Cunningham Avenue in Urbana, Illinois. The event centers on a single distance, the 5K, offered in two formats: "The Flash" 5K Race for runners and "The Hulk" 5K Walk for walkers. Special awards and recognition are planned for both racers and walkers.
Registration opens July 1, 2026 and closes September 10, 2026. The stated registration fee is $25.00. Participants who raise $100 receive an official Cunningham Hero Cape.
All proceeds directly support the 953 youth and families served by Cunningham. Programs cited include residential treatment, special education, and community-based services for young people who have experienced abuse, neglect, trauma, or mental health challenges.
