Battle Day 5K Road Race
The Battle Day Road Race is an annual event sponsored by the Friends of the Monument. It is one of the events commemorating the Battle of Bennington, which occurred on August 16, 1777.
The main event is a mostly flat 5K route by Vermont standards. The course is an out-and-back that starts and ends at the Bennington Battle Monument in Old Bennington, VT. The program includes a 1/2 mile Kid's Fun Run around the Monument held prior to the 5K, and the 5K begins with the firing of a musket.
This run is not timed and is presented as a celebration of participants whether they are running or walking. Both runners and walkers are explicitly welcome. There will not be registration available on race day. Shirt pickup is arranged before the race. Dogs and strollers are strongly discouraged.
