Two Tunnels Races
The Two Tunnels event takes place in Bath, utilizing a shared use path created from the former Somerset & Dorset Railway. This course features the longest underground section for each race distance in the UK, passing through the 408m Devonshire Tunnel and the 1,672m Combe Down Tunnel. Both tunnels are well lit and have a solid surface, providing a flat running path beneath the city.
The event offers a wide variety of distances to accommodate different preferences:
- 500m and 2km Colourburst races including optional cargo nets and pole weaves.
- 5km race organized in multiple waves.
- 10km Return Ticket and 10km Hilly Ticket options.
- Half Marathon Return Ticket and Half Marathon Hilly Ticket options.
- Marathon, 50km Relay, and Ultra Marathon distances.
The start and finish area is located at Brickfields Park in Bath. The park contains a children's playground and open space for spectators. The event supports the charity Sustrans, which maintains the tunnels and the shared use path network. The 10km and half marathon distances are split into different categories, including "Return" routes and "Hilly" routes, with various waves used to manage the flow of participants throughout the day.
