Bath & Bristol Railway Races - Autumn 2027

The event follows the route of the original train line from Green Park Station in Bath to Bristol Temple Meads. The course is 100% tarmac and is described as the flattest route in the organiser’s calendar, offering a road-race like experience through green countryside into the heart of Bristol.

The former railway was in use between 1869 and 1971. Between 1979 and 1986, Sustrans converted the railway path into what became the first route on the National Cycle Network. Along the route runners pass historic and active nods to the line’s heritage, including restored signal boxes and picturesque stations.

Parts of the route run alongside the Avon Valley Railway, an active heritage line that still operates on the original track near Bitton. The half marathon is an out-and-back to Bitton Train Station with about 2.5 km in each direction alongside the heritage railway. Longer distances run past the Avon Valley Railway station at Bitton and continue towards Bristol, passing Warmley and Mangotsfield stations.

Location: Green Park, Bath, BA1 1HZ. The event is organised by Relish The Great Outdoors. Tickets for this edition are currently sold out.
