Bath & Bristol Railway Races Spring 2027
The Bath & Bristol Railway Races follow the route of the original train line from Green Park Station in Bath to Bristol Temple Meads. The course is described as the flattest in the organiser's calendar and runs entirely on tarmac, offering a road-race style surface through green countryside into the centre of Bristol. The event starts at Green Park, Bath, BA1 1HZ.
The route uses a former railway corridor that operated from 1869 until 1971. Between 1979 and 1986 the path was converted by Sustrans into the first route on the National Cycle Network. Along the route there are historic features and active heritage sections related to the line.
Some events run alongside the Avon Valley Railway. The half marathon is an out-and-back to Bitton Train Station, with about 2.5 km in each direction beside the heritage railway. The 25 km, marathon and 50 km courses pass Bitton and continue toward Bristol, running past restored signal boxes and stations at Warmley and Mangotsfield.
Tickets for this event are currently sold out.
