Basildon Aquathlon 2026
The Basildon Aquathlon is a multisport competition hosted by East Essex Triathlon Club at the Basildon Sporting Village. The event consists of a pool-based swimming section followed immediately by a run. The running course takes place in Gloucester Park on a flat route consisting primarily of tarmac paths, with some sections on grass that may be muddy depending on weather conditions.
The event is divided into different categories based on the age of the participants:
- Adult and Youth (15+ years): 400m swim and 5km run.
- TriStar 3 (13-14 years): 400m swim and 2400m run.
- TriStar 2 (11-12 years): 250m swim and 1800m run.
- TriStar 1 (9-10 years): 150m swim and 1200m run.
- TriStart (8 years): 50m swim and 600m run.
The children's Tristar races are part of the East Region Junior Race Series for 2026. Participants are required to provide an estimated swim time for 400m (or their specific distance) to assist with heat seeding.
The competition follows British Triathlon rules regarding transition areas; the use of markers or excessive talcum powder to identify positions is prohibited. A prize-giving ceremony for trophies takes place after the conclusion of the races and provisional results are typically available online the same day.
