Base 2 Space - Space Needle stair climb
Base 2 Space is a charity stair climb at the Space Needle in Seattle on September 27, 2026. The climb uses both open-air staircases and covers 832 steps to the top, with views of downtown Seattle, Mt. Rainier, and Puget Sound. This is the 10th annual event.
Participants receive a t-shirt, a finisher medal, and access to the Space Needle’s indoor and outdoor observation decks, including the revolving glass floor. Funds raised benefit Fred Hutch and the Space Needle Foundation; to date the event has raised over $4.5 million for cancer research.
Registration details and participant rules are specified by the organizer. Registration opens May 1, 2026. Adult registration listed at $76 before June 1 and $90 after June 1; adult registrants are required to raise a minimum of $200. Youth registration for ages 8 to 17 is listed at $55, with a $100 minimum fundraising requirement; climbers 10 years and younger must climb with a guardian. Participants can choose a racing or non-competitive staircase upon arrival and select a wave start time during registration. Elite competitors are required to be capable of running a 5 to 6 minute mile. Entry is limited to the first 4,000 climbers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
