About the race
Barkin' Mad Ultra 2026 is a community ultrarunning and trail event held at Rokeby Recreation Reserve, Rokeby VIC, Australia, organised by Aus Hair of the Dog Rescue Inc. The event runs across 3 and 4 October 2026 and aims to raise funds to support rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of dogs, with a collective fundraising target of over $30,000 and a capacity of around 400 participants and dogs.

Entries include separate categories for runs and walks, options to participate with or without a dog, an adaptive runner category with classification for vision, hearing, neurological or physical movement, and intellectual impairment, and a 50 km team relay. Breed and age limits apply for longer distances; brachycephalic breeds and dogs younger than one year are excluded from the 20 km and 50 km races. All dogs must be on nonretractable leads, wear identification, and carry poo bags and basic supplies.
Mandatory human gear varies by distance and includes minimum fluid amounts, mobile phone, collapsible cup, and snake bandage; additional items are required for longer distances. Aid stations provide water, electrolytes, snacks, sunscreen, dog treats, and dog crates. The course is marked and has sweepers; digital GPX maps are provided.
