Balgowan Trail Run
The Balgowan Trail Run takes place on the Michaelhouse reserve in the Balgowan Valley and follows looped routes through indigenous grasslands and NCT plantations. The terrain passes viewpoints and a hilltop that offers wide views across the Midlands, including Midmar Dam, iNhlosane, and, on clear days, Giant’s Castle. Wildlife observed on the routes can include oribi, various bird species, and Nguni cattle.
The event is organised by the Balgowan Conservancy in partnership with Michaelhouse and KZNTR and links trail running with conservation and the local community. Courses are subject to change and there are no compulsory kit requirements listed for the races.
