Bacon Run - Ottumwa 2026
Bacon Run is a running event held in Ottumwa, Iowa, in conjunction with the long-running Bacon Fest known as BaconTown. The event takes place at 102 Church St and features a course that runs along the Des Moines River on a private path surfaced with concrete and asphalt.
Distances offered:
- 5 Mile course along the Des Moines River on private path
- 5K course
- 1 Mile Piggy Wiggy fun run
Registered participants receive a race shirt, one pound of packaged uncooked bacon, five Bacon Bucks to spend inside BaconTown, and a heavy 3" Bacon Run medallion for finishing. Cash prizes are awarded to top finishers in age categories. Participants and their families are granted early access to BaconTown before it opens to the general public.
Packet pick up occurs the morning of the event; registrations completed by November 7 guarantee T-shirt sizing, while later registrations are handled on a best-effort basis. Shirts will not be shipped if not picked up on the event day.
The Bridge View Center is transformed into a downtown street scene with vendors and a 13,000 square foot backdrop. Admission to BaconTown is free; most bacon items are priced at $1, with some items $2 or $3. A Kids Zone inside BaconTown includes carnival rides and family activities, and live music is scheduled during the day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
