Event Overview
The AZ Sunrise Series Rio Vista Park is a 5K run or walk. It is the third leg of the 13th Annual Arizona Sunrise Series, which comprises seven total events. The event is limited to 700 participants.
Location and Course
The event takes place at Rio Vista Community Park in Peoria, Arizona. The course uses the open-use trails (asphalt and concrete) of the New River Trail System, starting and ending at the park. The trail system remains open to the public during the event.
Registration and Fees
Registration is available for an in-person 5K and a virtual run option. Pricing for the in-person 5K follows a tiered structure, increasing from January through June. Race-day registration is available for a set fee.
Series Information
Participants can register for the entire seven-event Arizona Sunrise Series. The series is a points-based competition. Top point earners and participants who complete at least four events are entered into a prize drawing.
Participant Experience
The event welcomes walkers, wheelchairs, strollers, wagons, and leashed pets. Rollerblades, skateboards, and motorized devices are not allowed. There are two starting options: an open start line during a set morning window or a traditional mass start. The event includes chip timing, age group awards, and a pre- and post-race "Runner's Brunch." Participants receive a custom series medal and an add-on medal for this event, plus a choice of event swag.
Logistics
Packet pickup is available the day before the event at a specified store in Phoenix and on race day at Rio Vista Park beginning at 5:30 AM. The event is held rain or shine, with no refunds or transfers due to weather. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
