Over the Hills
Over the Hills is a multi terrain race of approximately 12 km (7.5 miles) that starts from Barton Farm Country Park in Bradford on Avon. The event has a two hour cut-off time.
The course is mostly off-road and, given typical November conditions, can be cold, wet and slippery underfoot; spikes are not recommended. The route includes a river crossing. If water levels are high, runners may be directed around the crossing for safety.
Awards are presented to the first three female and first three male finishers. Age-category prizes are offered to the first female and first male in V40, V50, V60 and V70 provided there are at least three entrants in the category. Competitors are eligible for one individual prize only. Team prizes are awarded to the first four male and first four female finishers who belong to an EA/ARC affiliated club as declared on the entry form.
Chip timing is provided by DBMax and results are published by them after the event. The race is conducted under Association of Running Clubs rules; ARC permit details are to be confirmed.
Practical information: there is no parking in Pound Lane. Pay-and-display car parks are available within about 500 m at the station car park and St Margarets car park (postcode BA15 1DF), with limited parking along Belcombe Road. Registration is at the West Barn at the end of Pound Lane. Public toilets are in the station and St Margarets car parks, with additional portable toilets near the start in Barton Farm Country Park.
The event raises money for Alzheimer's Support (West Wilts); refreshments and homemade cakes will be sold at the West Barn with proceeds to the charity and cash accepted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
