Event Overview
The Avalon Beach Classic takes place in Avalon, New Jersey, featuring a selection of events held on the beachfront. Participants run or walk on packed hard sand near the water's edge. The courses follow an out and back format, with the start and finish lines located at 30th Street and the Beach. This event is organized to support the Helen L. Diller Vacation Home for Blind Children.
Distance Options
The following distances are available:
- 5K Run (approximately 3 Miles)
- 2 Mile Walk
- 2K Fun Run (reserved for youth ages 11-15)
- 1K Fun Run (reserved for youth ages 10 and under)
Course Details
All participants move along the shoreline. The 2 Mile Walk utilizes a turnaround point at 49th Street, while the 5K Run turn around is located at 60th Street. For the youth events, the 2K Fun Run turns around at 42nd Street and the 1K Fun Run turns around at 36th Street. There is no water aid station provided on the course. Timing services are provided by DQ Events using chip technology.
The event includes a Fastest Family category where a parent and child can combine their times for a chance to win a prize. This category is open to family pairs competing in the 5K Run, or a combination of the 5K Run and one of the youth fun runs.
Registration and Logistics
Registration is conducted online only. Race day packet pickup occurs inside the Community Hall at 3001 Avalon Avenue. Participants in the youth categories receive medals upon finishing. Awards are also provided for top overall male and female finishers and specific age group winners across the different distances. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
