Autumn March for ALS
The Autumn March for ALS is a multi-distance sports event held in Dyersburg, Tennessee. This annual occurrence takes place on the third Saturday of October, a tradition that began in 1991. Since 2016, the event has focused on raising awareness for ALS, with proceeds supporting the Tennessee ALS Chapter, local senior scholarships, and the organization Matthew 25:40, Inc.
The event features several organized categories catering to different activities and age groups:
- 3 Miles running race
- 2 Miles walking only event
- 1 Miles youth running race
- 0.5 Miles running race for children 5 years old and under
The courses for all distances begin at the Downtown Farmers Market. Participants who register by October 10th are eligible to receive an event shirt. These shirts are white, short-sleeve, moisture-wicking Sport-Tek brand apparel featuring a circular emblem on the front and sponsor names on the back. For those who wish to support the cause without participating in a specific distance, a "Ghost Runner" registration option is available.
In addition to the athletic events, the site hosts various activities including an auto show, food trucks, and local vendors. Entertainment options include a DJ, a bounce house and slide, a cake walk, face painting, and door prizes. Early packet pick-up is located at Holy Angels Catholic Church on Tucker Street.
