Autism Awareness 5k - Wheeling
The Autism Awareness 5k is a community run and walk held in Wheeling during April, Autism Awareness month. The event raises funds for supports and sensory enhancements for self-contained autism classes in Ohio County Schools.
The program includes multiple event types: a 5k walk, a 5k run, a 5K ruck, and a virtual 5k. The in-person 5k is an out and back course beginning and ending at Wheeling Middle School, 3500 Chapline Street, Wheeling, WV 26003. Chip timing will be provided by Miles of Smiles Timing Service.
Awards are given to the top five male and top five female finishers in both the runner and walker divisions. There will be music, food and drinks available for participants. Early registration carries a lower fee and guarantees a shirt when completed by April 8, 2026; same day and late registration use a higher fee with shirts supplied on a first come first served basis.
The virtual 5k has a separate registration fee. Registered virtual participants will receive a shirt by mail. The virtual option does not include awards or official race timing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
