AR5K Road Race (Austin Reardon Memorial 5K)
The AR5K Road Race is a community road race organized by the Austin Reardon Scholarship Foundation in Norwood, Massachusetts. The event uses the Knights of Columbus No 2259 at 572 Nichols Street as both the start and finish location.
The course runs from Nichols Street onto Willett Parkway, around Westover Parkway and onto Rugby Road, then follows Albemarle Road, Essex Street and Croydon Road before returning via Westover Parkway to Nichols Street. Runners are advised to stay to the left side of Nichols Street when returning to the finish. At least one water station is placed on the route. Police detail is provided at Nichols Street, the intersection of Willett Street, and the entrance to the Knights of Columbus.
The foundation uses proceeds to fund high school scholarships and charitable donations. In both 2024 and 2025 the foundation awarded a total of $25,000 in scholarships each year, including one $20,000 scholarship and up to five $1,000 scholarships depending on funds raised. The foundation plans to continue similar scholarship awards for the Class of 2027. The road race is one of two annual fundraising events alongside a golf tournament.
The event operates rain or shine and has a no refund policy. Each registered participant receives a pair of socks and the event donates a matching pair to charity; 450 pairs were donated in 2024 and 500 in 2025. The next scheduled AR5K is Sunday, October 11, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
