Course overview

The Spurs Austin International Half follows a point to point route through Austin with a significant net downhill over 13.1 miles. The course begins in front of Regal Gateway Theater on Stonelake Blvd and finishes at 14th and San Jacinto near the Texas State Capitol. It was formerly known as the 3M Half Marathon.

The route is described mile by mile: miles 1 to 3 start with a gentle descent from Stonelake Blvd; miles 4 to 6 continue the downhill trend through north Austin and down Shoal Creek; miles 7 to 9 pass tree-lined streets and local areas with an Energy Zone near mile 7 offering gel refuel options; miles 10 to 13.1 pass the University of Texas campus and include a steady decline into the finish. A relay exchange is located just past mile 6.

On-course support includes multiple aid stations stocked with water and lemon-lime electrolyte drink, an Energy Zone at mile 7 with GO GEL flavors Apple Cinnamon and Mixed Berry caffeinated, and Ascension Seton medical personnel at aid stations. Restrooms are available at each aid station with additional facilities near miles 1 and 3. The course is open for four hours, which corresponds to an 18 minute per mile pace; participants who cannot maintain that pace will be directed to the sidewalk and the finish line will close after that time.
