Course, facilities and policies

The race uses a single-lap route that starts and finishes in Highfield Park and follows the Alban Way, a flat tree-lined disused railway line, toward Hatfield before looping via Sleapshyde and returning along the Alban Way. Most of the route is on tarmac, the finish area is on grass, and most of the course is traffic-free. The course is described as well-marked and supported by marshals. Event features listed include live music, a bar, a coffee van, free event photos, a custom-designed medal, and finish-line snacks plus a glass of celebratory fizz.

Practical notes provided include nearby parking options, with St Albans City Station about a 1.5 mile walk from the venue, a small car park at the YMCA (approx. 50 bays), and a multi-storey car park on Station Way (approx. 600 bays). Disabled parking is available at the Highfield Park entrance (what3words: ///quiet.tender.really).

ATW supports the SheRACES initiative, including a policy for entry credit if a participant becomes pregnant, equal prizes for Male/Open and Female categories, provision of sanitary products, adequate toilet facilities, a zero-tolerance policy on harassment, and a feedback process after events.
