Event Information
The 13th Annual atTAcK addiction 5K, also known as the atTAcK addiction E-Racing the Stigma 5K, is held in New Castle, Delaware. The event starts at St. Peter the Apostle School on 515 Harmony Street.
Event Context
The event is described as a movement that aims to raise awareness about substance use disorders (SUD). It often draws participants personally impacted by addiction, either through their own recovery, the loss of a loved one, or supporting a loved one currently affected. The organizing group, atTAcK addiction, was founded in 2013 and works to change public policy and assist people in recovery in Delaware. The 5K provides 80% of the organization's funding.
Participant Details
The race is a certified USATF course. Registered participants receive a custom bib, a t-shirt, and post-race refreshments. Awards are given for overall male and female finishers, overall masters male and female, and the top three in various age groups. The largest team and top individual and team fundraisers are also recognized.
Additional Activities
The event includes free naloxone distribution and a collection for new or gently used shoes to donate. Fundraising is encouraged, with incentives like a hoodie for raising $150 or more. Volunteer opportunities are available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
