Event overview
The AmeriHealth Atlantic City Marathon Race Series takes place in Atlantic City, New Jersey on October 17 and 18, 2026. The weekend includes multiple events: the marathon, half marathon, 10K, and the G. Larry James 5K. Several combined-event options are offered under the King Neptune Challenge, pairing the marathon or half marathon with the 10K or 5K.
The marathon was established in 1958 and is described as the third oldest continuing marathon in the United States. The course is noted as fast and flat and includes eight miles of oceanfront Boardwalk running. All courses start and finish at Michigan Ave. on the Atlantic City Boardwalk in front of Bally's Atlantic City.
Logistics, services and awards
Expo and packet pickup are held at Bally's Treymore Ballroom on the Friday and Saturday before race weekend. Bag check is located on the Boardwalk in front of Bally's; only one bag per runner is accepted and loose clothing or suitcases are not allowed.
The event is USATF certified as a Boston Qualifier, is an RRCA State of New Jersey Championship Event, and is an Abbot World Major Age Group Championship Qualifier. Awards are given to overall top three male and female finishers and to first through third in 10-year age groups. RRCA award categories include open and masters age groups and an open challenged athlete division.
