Atlanta Dog Festival and 3K Walk/Run
The Atlanta Dog Festival and 3K Walk/Run is a dog-friendly community event held in Shirley Franklin Park in Atlanta on May 3, 2026. The event includes an in-person 3K walk/run and a virtual 3K option.
Along the 3K route, participants encounter interactive dog-and-human bonding moments approximately every 0.5 kilometer. These optional stations offer short exercises such as a five-second sit, stay, down, or paw cues and other simple connection activities intended to strengthen focus and teamwork between dog and handler. The route features moments designed for dogs of various experience levels.
The festival area includes a dog agility field for play and confidence building, a curated lineup of dog-focused vendors, and involvement from community partners and local pet businesses. The environment is described as relaxed and welcoming for dogs and their people. Friendly, leashed dogs are welcome.
The event is hosted by Praline’s Backyard Dog Services. All proceeds benefit Praline’s Backyard Foundation, a nonprofit that provides safe foster and boarding care for the pets of domestic violence survivors. The foundation’s work aims to remove a common barrier survivors face when seeking safety by protecting pets.
The program notes that people of all ages and paces, including walkers and runners, are encouraged to participate. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
