Atlanta 3k Dog Walk and Festival
The Atlanta 3k Dog Walk and Festival is a community event focused on the connection between dogs and their owners. Held at Shirley Franklin Park, formerly known as Westside Park, the event invites runners, walkers, and families to participate in a morning of movement and bonding.
Available distances and formats:
- 3k walk/run
- 3k virtual walk/run
The 3k route features optional interactive bonding moments every 0.5 kilometers. These include simple connection exercises and cues such as sitting for five seconds, staying, or giving a paw. These activities are designed to build focus and teamwork between participants and their dogs.
Beyond the course, the festival area includes a dog agility field for playful exercise and confidence building. Attendees can browse a curated selection of dog-focused vendors, local pet businesses, and community partners. The environment is designed to be relaxed and welcoming for all ages and fitness levels.
Hosted by Praline’s Backyard Dog Services, this event supports Praline’s Backyard Foundation. This nonprofit organization provides foster and boarding care for the pets of domestic violence survivors. All friendly, leashed dogs are permitted to participate in the activities. Registration is limited to 200 dogs for the in-person event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
