Assault on Kennesaw Mountain Memorial 5K
The Georgia Army National Guard Assault on Kennesaw Mountain Memorial 5K is an annual commemorative race held on September 26, 2026. The event is conducted at Kennesaw Mountain State Park with the start point and opening ceremony at Grace Community Church, 770 Kennesaw Ave NW, Marietta, GA 30060. Now in its 15th year, the event honors the Georgia National Guard’s Fallen 43 Soldiers lost during the Global War on Terrorism 2001–present and supports the Georgia National Guard Family Support Foundation. Participants have included military and civilian runners, walkers, and ruckers of various ages. Since 2012 more than 3,015 people have participated and the event has generated over $59,000 in support of Georgia National Guard personnel.
The event distance is 5K. Registration options listed include a standard entry fee of $35, an early bird rate of $30 for the first 25 registrants, and a donation entry option priced at $35; all race entries and processing fees are non-refundable. Race packets contain a finisher dog tag, race shirt, bib, and AoKM sticker. Packet pick-up is available the day before at Big Peach Running Company in Kennesaw and on race day at Grace Community Church. There is no virtual race option this year. The event program includes a pre-race ceremony honoring the Fallen 43 and an awards ceremony at the top of Kennesaw Mountain near the finish line.
