Ashtead 10k 2026
The Ashtead 10k and a 2 km kids run are organised annually by Ashtead Running Group to raise funds for local charities. Both races take place entirely on rough tracks around Ashtead Common, a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a National Nature Reserve noted for its breeding birds, decaying ancient trees, and rare invertebrates. The site also contains two ancient scheduled monuments, a Roman villa and a triangular earthwork. The event runs with permission from the Ashtead Common Rangers and the Corporation of the City of London.
The course is not flat and is best described as undulating. Earphones are not permitted during the race for the safety of participants. Organisers note a past massed hornet attack in 2010 and say they cannot guarantee the course will be hornet free, although none have been seen recently.
