Art O'Neill Challenge
The Art O'Neill event takes place on January 15, 2027 and starts at Dublin Castle. The route heads through South Dublin, passes Stone Cross, crosses open mountain terrain via Art's Cross and finishes at Glenmalure. The event is fully supported and Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team will be available should help be needed.
There are two event options:
- 62 km Challenge: Dublin Castle to Glenmalure, road and open mountain, runners and walkers.
- 25 km Pursuit: Dublin Castle to Kippure Estate, road race, runners only, nighttime event.
Entry for each event is limited to 200 places. Challenge places are decided by a ballot that requires a €5 non refundable entry to participate; successful applicants are offered a one week window by email to claim their place before it is offered to the next person on the ballot list. Entries are not transferable. Refunds are not allowed for the Challenge.
The Pursuit is described as a road race and is not open to walkers. The Challenge combines road sections and open mountain walking and running on a longer route. Both events include defined start and finish locations and capped entry numbers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
