About the race
The Art O'Neill (AON) event weekend comprises two timed events linking Dublin Castle with locations in County Wicklow. The event takes place on January 15th, 2027, and the route leaves Dublin Castle, travels through South Dublin, passes Stone Cross, continues over open mountain via Art's Cross, and finishes at Glenmalure or Kippure Estate depending on the event. The challenge is supported on course by Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team.
Two event options are offered:
- 62 km Challenge on road and open mountain, Dublin Castle to Glenmalure.
- 25 km Pursuit, a nighttime road race from Dublin Castle to Kippure Estate.
Both the Challenge and the Pursuit have entry limits of 200 places. The Challenge places are allocated by ballot; the ballot opens Monday 17 August 2026, closes Monday 31 August 2026, and entrants will be informed on Thursday 3 September 2026. Entry to the ballot costs €5 plus Eventmaster fees; this fee is non-refundable. Successful ballot entrants will have the €175 event fee plus Eventmaster costs charged by 9 September 2026; event fees are non-refundable. Multiple ballot entries are removed.
